Laura was falling back. Try as she might, she was being passed by other riders on every hill they climbed on the way out of Minneapolis. She had told herself she wouldn't use it. It didn't seem fair to the other riders. She had put it in her bag almost as an afterthought this morning, never thinking she might actually need it. But, as other cyclists sped past on the brisk Minnesota morning, she could hear it screaming to her from her bag. She was tired and out of breath, and she realized the only chance she had was to put it on. And she needed to do it fast, before she lost anymore ground.

She pulled off to the side of the road and fished the soft, navy blue shirt out of her bag and slipped it over her head. Immediately she could feel strength surge through her weary muscles. As she put her feet back on the pedals, she felt more connected to her bike, assumedly because of her “I Bike MN” shirt. As she marveled at the effectiveness of her secret weapon, she began passing the riders who had just passed her. She was back in the race and more comfortable than ever!
